FAQs

Get the answers to our most common paddleboard tour questions

Our paddleboard tours are open to all levels and abilities. Each tour begins with a safety briefing and some basic tuition on land before we head to the water. If you have never paddleboarded before, then you might enjoy the experience more having had some private tuition beforehand.

  • Trainers or rock shoes that you don’t mind getting wet
  • Sun cream and/or a cap
  • A swimming costumer to wear under your wetsuit
  • Some drinking water
  • A towel
  • Some dry clothes to change into at the end

Our River Avon tour is tide dependent and therefore scheduled times cannot be adjusted. Our Salcombe tours, while also tidal dependent are more flexible with a backup location a couple of miles away which is perfect if the swell in North Sands gets too rough.

Yes, private family tours are available to book at both destinations. Our standard family price is based on four people, but you can add more at an additional cost to either tour. Book one of our private slots online or call for additional times and dates.

  • River Avon tours meet at the carpark in Aveton Gifford. Just off the main road at the pub roundabout, it’s the first exit if you’re arriving over the bridge from Kingsbridge or Salcombe and the 3rd exit if you’re coming down the hill from Bigbury or Modbury.
  • Salcombe tours meet at the North Sands car park next to the Winking Prawn. The car park can fill quickly in the summer, so if you’re staying in Salcombe consider walking from the town, or catching the park and ride if you’re arriving from other areas.

Yes, absolutely you can.

If you are a complete beginner and have never paddleboarded before then we recommend having a one-on-one lesson with us privately beforehand. One to one lessons are £40 and can be arranged by contacting us directly.

No, neither of our tours head out to sea.

Paddleboarding is meant to be a relaxed water activity, and we want to keep it that way. If you need a break then there are plenty of places on both tours to jump off or sit down at any point.

Yes, but we can’t take responsibility for it.

All participants must be at least 12 years old. Younger participants must be competent swimmers with previous paddle boarding experience.

We understand things can happen and people can run late. We can wait up to 15 minutes past the activity meeting time before we begin, after that your lateness may impact other customers’ experience. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early for any of our activities.

Paddleboarding relies heavily on the weather conditions being just right. We constantly monitor weather forecasts and will always give plenty of warning if we have to cancel. If we do have to cancel then we offer a full refund or the chance to reschedule.
