Our South Devon climbing experiences are suitable for individuals, couples and groups, regardless of your previous experience. Taking advantage of some of the UK’s best granite climbing, we’ll head to Dartmoor where our expert guides can show you routes that range in difficulty from short, easy climbs to the technical and damn right impossible.
A stunning national park, Dartmoor provides an incredible backdrop to our climbing days. With it’s famous granite torrs and far reaching views to the South Devon coast, a day spent on this historic moorland will nourish your soul and leave you feeling energised for the night ahead.
Book NowOur introduction to climbing sessions cover all the basics of outdoor climbing. We’ll get you climbing single pitch crags, starting you off on your outdoor climbing adventure. You’ll learn the fundamentals of climbing, including managing your safety, understanding climbing grades, belaying and basic climbing techniques. Throughout the whole session you’ll be in control of how challenging your experience is.

4 x 2 hour climbs
Dartmoor offers an abundance of brilliant climbing spots to choose from. Depending on the conditions and your experience we’ll usually head to either Dewerstone, Hay Torr, Sheeps Torr or Hounds Torr. We’ll always confirm exactly where we are going once your booking is complete, or if you have a preference just let us know.
Each location is close to a car park, where we’ll be waiting to meet you at the start of your session.
Do I need to have climbed outside before?
No, you don’t need to have climbed at all, just be interested in giving it a go.
Do I have to climb for the entire session?
No, you can climb as much or as little as you like.
How hard is the climbing going to be?
We can set each climbing route to suit the ability of each person or the group.
Can I rig the anchors?
Unfortunately, no. This is strictly done by the Adventure South team, but you may be able to watch some of the rigging and ask any questions.
Do I need to know how to tie knots?
No, we take care of that for you, there will be a chance to learn how to tie-in. If you’re really keen, some good knots to learn are Figure of 8, Bowline and Double Overhand.
Do I need to bring rope or other climbing equipment?
No, if you own a pair of climbing shoes then definitely bring them. Apart from that we provide everything you’ll need.
What if the weather is bad?
We’re not trying to climb Everest! If the weather isn’t favourable for climbing then we’ll try and reschedule you for another day or offer a refund.
